I been smoking off and on since I was 15. I consider myself a fantastic quitter and aside from a couple days worth of headaches and grumpiness, I have no problems butting out. But I always eventually start again for no good reason at all except that it’s my favourite excuse to take breaks from things I don’t want to be doing. Or sometimes it’s because everyone around me is smoking and I feel left out of the social circle (yes, I know that’s stupid). I claimed I was going to quit a couple weeks ago and didn’t. I know it’s time to quit for good (I am 30 now, after all), so I went online to look for a little extra motivation. I had no idea the programs available right now to help people quit smoking and I wish I’d looked into it a bit sooner! Here’s what I found:
Quit & Get Fit – An awesome program offered by the Ontario Lung Association and GoodLife Fitness. Between February 1 and March 31, 2010, a personal trainer from GoodLife will provide you with 12 free personal training sessions to help you incorporate your quit goals into a personal fitness and wellness plan. The program is available to both members and non-members of GoodLife Fitness at 9 different location in Ontario (including my hometown, Sarnia!). Even though the program already started, it’s not too late to join – you can still get the training sessions until March 31st when the program ends. Must be 18 or older. To register, call the Ontario Lung Association @ 1-888-344-LUNG (5864). Sweet!
The Driven to Quit Challenge: The Canadian Cancer Society wants to reward you for quitting smoking with Mastercard gift cards, a CAA vacation, or a grand prize 2010 Ford Escape Hybrid! Now if that’s not a killer incentive to quit, I have no idea what is! Register by February 28, get yourself a support ”Buddy” (they can win prizes, too!), and get set to be smoke-free from March 1 – 31, 2010. Already quit as your New Year’s resolution? You’re still eligible to win! While you are not allowed to smoke during the challenge (and you will be asked to submit a urine sample if you’re a winner), the Canadian Cancer Society does allow you to use nicotine replacement therapies (ie: the patch or gum). Please visit their website for all the details and other information to help you quit.

I joined the Driven to Quit Challenge and am going to quit smoking for good. I hope you will, too.

Or maybe I will set our router to only allow her 8 minutes of internet access a day until she quits.

PS: there are many coupons out there for nicorette gum or patches, many of my fellow workers have gone to the doctors and got the new pill that is out now and have been very sucessful, I tried it but just didn’t give it a good try before I gave up and just might try it again now that I have more insentive by trying to win that car.lol.
I am quitting too, thanks for all the links. I did quit before, but like you I always seem to go back for some stupid reason. I joined the driven to quit challenge this time, last year I quit for 5 months before i started back, this time I hope it’s my last time quitting. Good luck to you too!!

I believe smoking could be much more addicting to specific folks. Therefore, quitting smoking is easier for some folks than other folks. At the end of the day, you have to wish to quit before you at long last attain success.
I respect your honesty and your opinion. I’m a man. I never read comic books. I don’t know if i could have pointed to Iron Man in a lineup of comic book characters. And i don’t particularly like movies based on comic books. BUT I love Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jeff Bridges, so i decided to give the movie a chance.

Understanding what tobacco dependence is all about can help the smoker change his habits. This is especially so because addictive behavior has a direct influence on the bodily chemicals that affect emotions and behavior.
It is hard to Stop Smoking at all but i tried so hard to quit smoking because of the fear of lung cancer `
