Awhile ago, after learning a bit about it in the
Smart Canucks forums, I joined a word-of-mouth marketing website called
BzzAgent.com. I am a BzzAgent among many and I loves it! It’s a community of people who review and test products, discuss different brands, restaurants, etc.. There are different coupons and offers for members, but I find most of them are only valid in the US. Hopefully, they’ll get some more Canadian deals in the future!
It took probably 3 or 4 months at least before I got my first invitation recently to join a BzzCampaign. The BzzCampaign was for DanActive probiotic yogurt. It took FOREVER for the BzzKit to arrive. In fact, I just got it last week! They sent me a coupon to get a free 4 pack of DanActive to try out myself. I wish I was ready to review it right now, but I have been having a hell of a time finding the 4 pack in stores! After 5 or 6 stores, it seemed so strange! Then I received an email telling me to use my coupon soon because 4 packs are being discontinued as of February 1. Grrrrr. Will go on the great yogurt drink hunt and let you know what I think of this elusive DanActive very soon!
Anyways, they also sent me some $1 off coupons and a STACK of promo contest cards to dish out to friends and family. Frankly, right now I don’t have time to drive around and hand all the contest cards out…
So, here is what I am going to do: If you would like to….
ENTER THE PROMO CONTEST TO WIN A ONE YEAR SUPPLY OF DANONE DANACTIVE
Post a comment with your Smart Canucks username or your email address here on my blog and tell me your favourite yogurt flavour. If you are one of the first 30 commenters, I will scratch a card for you and send you a message with your contest code which you will enter at http://www.danactive-promo.ca/.
Rules:
1) The DanActive contest is valid until May 30th, 2010.
2) Obviously, you MUST enter your contest card code on the DanActive promo website above yourself. I cannot and will not do it for you.
4) The contest is limited to ONE ENTRY PER PERSON.Good luck, everyone!!!

Back to my birthday story! On Day 2, we left Cincinnati and drove about 4.5 hours to Nashville.
We stopped a few times through Kentucky. I love Kentucky! The people there are so friendly and their accent is hilarious! I could seriously listen to them talk all day. We had lunch at this Denny’s that was set up as a 50′s diner. The whole building was metal… not the kind of place you’d want to be eating at in a lightning storm, that’s for sure. Wish I’d gotten some pics. There are crazy religious billboards everywhere. My eye spied a billboard for a place called
“Kentucky Down Under” and I was all over that! They have huge caves, kangaroos, and birds. I even convinced Brian to stop there but since the animals were all gone for the winter he refused to go in. I’d love to go back there sometime.
When we got to Nashville, we checked into the hotel (Fairfield Inn at Opryland). Again a cheapy, because it was a one night stay. Nice place. Very clean and the staff was super friendly. We headed for the Opry Mills mall, which is where I had most of our day planned. The Grand Ole Opry House is adjacent to the mall, so we took some pictures there and peeked in the windows. We couldn’t go in because we didn’t have a tour booked. Booooo. I wanted to have lunch at
The Aquarium restaurant. The center off the restaurant is a 200,000 gallon aquarium. So cool! . We didn’t end up eating there, but I signed up for their email club and they sent me some 2 for 1 coupons so we did go to the exhibit and stingray reef. For $2, you can buy shrimp to feed the stingrays. They are so soft, just like velvet. We toured the mall and did some shopping.
The highlight of this day was
Dave and Buster’s. I LOVE DAVE AND BUSTER’S and, to be honest, it was the main reason I wanted to stop in Nashville (Opry Mills is their only location in all of Tennessee!).. haha. So fun. They have the best food and it’s like Chucky Cheese for adults. I love games!!! If you ever go, the Grilled Chicken Nachos are a must.
We didn’t go into downtown Nashville. We were pretty tired after all that driving and walking and just went back to the hotel for the night so we could be well rested for the remainder of the drive to Memphis.
To be continued….

As promised, here is the scoop on Christie’s 30th Birthday Memphis Extravaganza! We had SO MUCH FUN! If you ever have a chance to visit Memphis, do it! There’s so much history there and no shortage of things to do especially if you love music, memorabilia and good food! Because there’s so much to tell about, I am going to post only one or two days of the trip at a time. That way I can include some pictures and reviews.
On Sunday, January 3rd, we hit the road with my 6 day itinerary of non-stop fun. The first stop was in Detroit to watch the Lions play the Chicago Bears. We had SWEET seats – 5 rows from the field on the 35 yard line right behind the Bears! It was a pretty good game. Jay Cutler showed up looking like he actually knew what he was doing. We used to go to a football game every year for Brian’s birthday, but this was the first time we’d been since we went to Buffalo a couple years ago.
1 – The Bears practicing before the game. Look how close we are! In the pic: Jay Cutler 12, Devin Hester 23, Juaquin Iglesias 17, Rashied Davis 81, and Earl Bennett 80.
2 – Jump all you want Lions, you are still going to suck.
After the game, we drove about 3.5 hours to the Cincinnati area to get a good night’s sleep before moving on to Day 2. My mom works for Marriott, so we get a KILLER discount on hotel rooms. I decided to opt for uber-cheap since it was just one night. We stayed that the Fairfield Inn and Suites Cincinnati/Sharonville. Not a bad place for one of Marriott’s budget brands. It was relatively new, very clean, had lots of parking, and the free breakfast had a great selection. It was not a good night’s sleep, however. They didn’t fulfill my request for a feather-free room (partly my fault for not having it guaranteed through ADA and for not doing anything about it when we checked in). So, I took the foam pillows and Brian got stuck with the feathers. Normally, this is not a big deal, but since the heater in the room SUCKED and it was SOOOOO DRY, he had some major respiratory problems during the night. At about 2am, he went to the front desk and asked for some foam pillows and was refused! The front desk guy said they didn’t have any. Considering there were only about 5 cars in the parking lot, I am pretty sure he could have pulled couple pillows out of one of the many vacant rooms and that’s exactly what I told them when I went to speak to management in the morning. The manager wasn’t there, of course. So I told the girl at the desk the story and she said she’d pass it along. No “sorry about that” or anything out of her, but a few minutes later a very nice woman from housekeeping came and apologized and comped our room. I thought that was very nice. That’s the end of Day 1!
Stay tuned for Day 2: Nashville…..

Sorry for the blog post hiatus! I have been SUPER busy over the last few weeks celebrating Christmas, ringing in the New Year, and turning the Big 3-0.
Christmas was great. Brian and I finished the Amazing Race like true professionals. We spent some quality time with friends and family and I successfully cooked 2 dinners – a turkey and (for the first time in my entire life) a pot roast! I do not eat either of those foods, but from what people said, they were both delish.
New Year’s was hella fun! We rang in 2010 with good friends. I even whiskey rode a 2 wheeled Wii skateboard like a big boobed Tony Hawk and danced with plastic kid’s play furniture. It was a real sight, no doubt about it. Good times.
The real excitement was my 30th Birthday Memphis Extravaganza. It was so fun and we did so much that it requires its very own post… once I relax a bit and gets my pics uploaded! Fingers crossed it’s tomorrow.
Night all!
